AUSTIN, Texas — No more AI. SI. It’s better. At least, that’s what Elon Musk says.

Musk confirmed Sunday that SpaceX’s artificial intelligence arm, currently called SpaceXAI, will be renamed SpaceXSI — bowing to President Donald Trump’s Sept. 29 executive order directing the federal government to replace “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence” in official documents.

“Yes, we will make that change,” Musk wrote on X, replying to a user who asked about the rebrand. In a string of posts, he added: “No more AI. SI, it’s better,” and declared, “SpaceX is a super intelligence company.”

This would be the division’s third name in under eight months. SpaceX acquired xAI on Feb. 2 in a deal valuing the combined company at $1.25 trillion. In May, Musk dissolved xAI as a separate company. On July 6, the division adopted the SpaceXAI name and logo. Now — SpaceXSI, apparently, because the president renamed a word.

Musk gave no timeline, no formal announcement, and no clarity on whether this is a legal name change or a branding wink — or what it means for products like Grok and the @SpaceXAI handle. The company had issued nothing formal as of Sunday morning. It costs Musk nothing, it flatters the administration he now sits beside at White House AI summits, and it keeps him at the center of the terminology war he helped start — recall him catching himself mid-sentence at the White House last week: “the positive benefits of A.I. … S.I., pardon me.”

The sycophancy critique writes itself. But there’s a sharper read: in an industry where naming is narrative, Musk is signaling total alignment with the administration’s AI posture — full speed, no brakes, “super” everything. When the guy building the rockets, the cars, the satellites, and the models all rename his AI division on a presidential whim, the line between industrial policy and personality cult gets very thin.

Then again — maybe he just thinks “SI” sounds cooler. With Musk, both can be true.

Is “super intelligence” a serious rebrand for the most powerful technology on Earth — or just loyalty theater from a CEO who knows which way the political wind blows?
