WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has released transcripts and audio recordings of a two-day interview with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. The move, according to sources like The Associated Press and CBS News, came as the Trump administration sought to present itself as transparent amid ongoing public pressure to disclose records related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The interview was conducted by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche at a Florida courthouse last month. According to the transcripts, Maxwell was granted limited immunity, meaning her statements could not be used against her in future prosecution unless she was found to have lied. The materials, which run more than 300 pages and are marked as “redacted,” have been posted on the DOJ website.
Among the key takeaways from the transcripts, as reported by Al Jazeera and PBS News, are Maxwell’s statements regarding her relationships with prominent figures. She praised President Donald Trump, saying he “was never inappropriate with anybody” and that she “never” witnessed him in a “massage setting.” She also discussed former President Bill Clinton, whom she claimed was her “friend, not Epstein’s friend.”
Maxwell also addressed key conspiracy theories surrounding the case. She stated that Epstein did not have a “client list” and reiterated her long-held belief that the disgraced financier did not commit suicide. Following her interview, Maxwell was moved from a low-security federal prison in Florida to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas, a move for which neither her lawyer nor the federal Bureau of Prisons has provided an explanation.
