WASHINGTON — The four astronauts of the SpaceX Crew-10 mission are preparing to depart the International Space Station (ISS) after a weather-related delay pushed their undocking to Friday, Aug. 8.
The SpaceX Dragon capsule, named Endurance, is scheduled to undock at 6:05 p.m. EDT. The delay was caused by unfavorable weather conditions at the planned splashdown sites off the coast of California, according to official statements from NASA and SpaceX.
The crew, which consists of NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, alongside Takuya Onishi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Kirill Peskov of Roscosmos, is expected to complete its 17.5-hour journey with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean at 11:33 a.m. EDT on Saturday, Aug. 9.
A farewell ceremony was held for the astronauts on Tuesday, marking the end of their five-month science expedition aboard the orbital outpost.
