CONCORD, N.H. — Former New York City Mayor and personal lawyer to President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, was hospitalized over the weekend after being involved in a car crash on a highway in New Hampshire. According to his spokesperson, Michael Ragusa, the 81-year-old sustained a number of injuries, including fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg.

The crash occurred late Saturday evening when the vehicle Giuliani was a passenger in was struck from behind. The New Hampshire State Police confirmed the incident but have not yet released an official report detailing the cause of the accident. Giuliani was transported to a nearby medical facility where he is currently recovering. While his injuries are serious, Ragusa stated that they are not considered life-threatening and that the former mayor is in stable condition.

The accident marks another chapter in what has been a tumultuous period for Giuliani, whose public profile has been dominated by legal battles, political controversies, and a series of health issues. Once hailed as “America’s Mayor” for his leadership after the 9/11 attacks, Giuliani has faced disbarment proceedings, defamation lawsuits, and an ongoing financial crisis. The car crash, however, appears to be an unrelated and unfortunate accident.

Giuliani’s son, Andrew Giuliani, confirmed his father was in “good spirits despite everything” and that he was grateful for the outpouring of support from family and friends. The incident has drawn attention from across the political spectrum, with some offering well wishes and others using the opportunity to comment on his recent controversies. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash has not been identified, and it is unclear if any charges will be filed.

“The former mayor is in stable condition and is receiving excellent care. We ask that the public and media respect his privacy and allow him the time and space needed for a full recovery,” Ragusa said in a statement on Sunday. “He is, as always, determined to face this setback head-on and is looking forward to returning to his work as soon as his doctors give the all clear.”

The collision has also brought renewed scrutiny to the dangers of highway travel, with officials urging drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rear-end collisions are one of the most common types of traffic accidents, often resulting in serious injuries to vehicle occupants. The NHTSA’s official website offers resources and statistics on highway safety.

Giuliani’s political and legal activities have slowed considerably in recent months as he deals with a series of personal challenges. The extent to which this new injury will affect his ability to travel and participate in public life remains to be seen. His legal team has yet to comment on how the accident may impact his ongoing court appearances. The accident is a stark reminder of the former mayor’s enduring presence in the national consciousness, even as his public influence wanes and his personal troubles mount.
