WASHINGTON — Author and former Navy SEAL Jack Carr is expanding on his literary universe, providing new details on the prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf and his upcoming novel, Cry Havoc. In recent interviews, Carr discussed how he built the world of his protagonist, James Reece, and his supporting characters, including Ben Edwards, played by Taylor Kitsch in the Amazon Prime Video series.
According to a recent interview with USA TODAY, Carr explained that the Vietnam-era novel Once an Eagle earned a cameo in his latest book, Dark Wolf. Carr, who co-created the series with showrunner David DiGilio, has emphasized the collaborative and authentic nature of the television adaptation. As he told Military.com, his goal for the series is “80% authenticity, 20% Hollywood hot sauce,” focusing on getting the details right while creating engaging entertainment.
Carr also spoke with PEOPLE about his novel Cry Havoc, which he describes as his “favorite book so far.” The novel is set in 1968 and centers on James Reece’s father, Tom Reece, during the Vietnam War. Carr noted that writing the book was a challenge, as it required extensive historical research to be viewed through the lens of that specific time period.
